I can't blog long tonight, my blogging Sensei is coming over in a few for 'Cooking Lesson: Hummus'. I'm having trouble deciding on what to blog on. The choices are:
- Is the 'Religious Right' the new Nazi party?
- Why is some Gay Cinema good, exceedingly so, and others come off just tragic/offensive?
- What happens when a 'dazzling young urbanite' gay and his partner move to small communities in an effort to save their relationship.
I'm going to make every effort to write all of the above topics up, and get them posted, you'll just have to stay tuned.
In the mean time, I've got a new widget, that displays my library from Shelfari. If you're a reader check it out.
Honestly, I've got to wonder, the world is going nuts, or is it just me. Every where I turn D.B. or his wife Posh is in my face. Now I'm not one to dump on anyone's fetishes, but seriously I don't get why everyone is going nuts for these two.
In his hey day, Becks was an awesome soccer player, that I get. Sure he's been traded first to Spain, then to the LA Galaxy, and I'm sure he's pretty close to retirement. How much lower can you get in the soccer world, then to be traded to a team, in a country, that doesn't respect soccer that much. And sure he looks okay in almost nothing, but he's no Ryan Barry, Ron Moss, or Rick Edwards (just google whack them if you don't know who they are). As far as athletes go, the only ones I care to see in their underwear is Jeremy Bloom, Jason Seahorn, Mitch Gaylord.
Then there is the wife. Okay, she was one fifth of the Spice Girls... woo hoo! One good song about 8 years ago, doesn't make her a 'Madonna'. Heck she wasn't even the lead of the group. Then the big hair, and tiny body, she looks like one of those 'Bratz' dolls the little girls play with. I've seen her on 'Ugly Betty', and I've seen trees with more personality. Oh, and honey, Jackie O was the only one on the face of this earth to pull off the HUGE ASS sunglasses successfully. Anyone else looks like a poor imitation.
Now granted these are my opinions, but could someone for the love of gods, tell me why?
Let's see, in my continuing effort to blog more, I'm going to try to put something out about my past.
I grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania. For those of you who don't know, it's between Philadelphia, and Lancaster (where the Amish are). The W.C. is also known for being in the heart of Mushroom Country, and the home of the QVC studios. Trust me, the QVC home shopping network got there after I left.
I spent my college years in Providence, R.I. No not at Brown, nor at Rhode Island School of Design. I went to Johnson and Wales College (yes, I know it's a university now). I've got a culinary degree and a food service management degree. Of course my career is fixing computers, not meals.
After college I moved to San Diego, I was here for 6 years. There was a sort adjustment period of changing my East Coast ideas, for West Coast ideas. I liked the idea of being in a Big City, on the beach. There is a certain peace I found here, and wonderful friends, and a life that wasn't about family, or school.
And then the dark years began. I took a promotion back to Washington DC. While DC was a learning experience it was also one of the rougher periods of my life. I learned more of who I was, and what was important to me, during that time. I fell hard in love, and quickly had my heart broken. I learned that while I was raised on the east coast, it was no longer the life for me. I got to certain point, and looked at my retirement plan, and said 'Cash me out, baby! I'm going home.'
I loaded up the car and I moved to Beverly... Hills that is... oh, no, wait, I came back to San Diego. The best decision in my life.
So do to some recent activities, I've got new people reading my blog. I guess I can't slack off on it any more. Usually I use it just to upload photos to. So I thought I'd add one posting of a photo with me, actually in it. Plus, to make it a more appealing photo, I'll make sure there's someone handsome in it.
So yes, it's late Sunday, and I should be in bed, but seriously, it's too hot to sleep. Thank goodness I sleep alone, cause if there was another body in my bed, I wouldn't be sleeping in the bed.
Anyway, all things considered I had an awesome weekend, I hope the trend continues.
Friday Eve (Thursday), I had to run a Happy Hour for a group I lead. I also had to get some dental work completed right before the Happy Hour. Let me tell you there is nothing more challenging then trying to be a convivial Host, with a mouth full of Novocaine. While I was at the bar, I saw this really cute guy that I know from the internet, we got to flirt a bit across the bar. I couldn't really go in for the kill, cause it was a work function I was there for.
Friday, a friend threw a get together of his internet folks. It was a Twitter/Blogging group. I've got to say, it was a gathering of ridiculously good looking men. Sure, the venue was LOUD, hot, sticky, with no real room to stand, but there were good looking men in our group; so I forgive everything.
Saturday, I learned what the saying 'Crazy from the heat' means. I helped friends move, on the hottest day of the year, it was a record breaking heat wave day here in SD. It was long, hot, sweaty work, but it was good Karma. Then the day got much better, my friends from Friday night threw a BBQ, and I got to meet two more lovely and charming internet folks. The conversation was fun, lively, and engaging. The evening was finished off with a delicious chocolate martini. Sure I was still slightly delerious from the sun exposure earlier in the day, but hey, those are the breaks.
Sunday, I sat in the shade in front of a fan. While not the most exciting thing I could do, it was certainly a nice way to wind down such a busy weekend.
So there's a saying that goes, "Friends help you move, good friends help you move the bodies." Well today, once I get my lazy butt moving, I'll be helping some friends move. Woo Hoo!!! Of course it happens to be ungodsly hot around here, so I'd be dying very quickly.
Last night was a bit of fun. One of the more internet savvy friends of mine threw a meet up for the bloggers, and twitters he knows. It was fun, to go hang out with folks you barely know. Parking was a bear, and the club was so noisy, I lost my hearing in just a few minutes. But hey, the eye candy was very happening.
Now, Coffee, shower, back brace, and off to moving duties.
